| XTrax Xtrax is the Windows version of a DOS-based program called Xtraktor/Repaktor. You may not of heard of Xtraktor/Repaktor as it was an internal utility that was never released to the public. This Windows version of Xtrax has overcome many of the limitations of its DOS sister. Xtrax has 2 modes: Xtrax-mode & Repax-mode: Xtrax-mode does the UNpacking while Repax-mode handles the REpacking. Xtrax extractes multi-layered-archives. For example, if a program is archived into 5 large ZIP-files and inside those 5 ZIP-files are 25 more ZIP-files and inside those 25 ZIP-files are 25 RAR-files then Xtrax will automatically unZIP, then unZIP again, then unRAR the archive, leaving a fully extracted, ready-to-run or ready-to-install program file. For this task, Xtrax requires UNZIP.EXE, RAR.EXE, ACE32.EXE and sometimes WARJ.EXE. Xtrax is a friendly point-and-click front-end to archiving utilities that you probably already have. The really nice thing about it is that you don't even need to know what kind of archive-set you are dealing with - Xtrax figures it out for you, and doesn't stop working until it has the final program files fully extracted.
